After B+S scooped the soft opening of Della Terra two months ago, I was eager to check out the Tuscan trattoria restaurant on 7675 Beverly Boulevard. Della Terra boasts former Fraiche chef Sal Garcia and a brick, woodburning stove. Early last night, workers were busy hosing down the sidewalk which prompted us to think the place was closed. Adding to the desolate feeling, only one outside table was occupied. (More on the pizza, salmon and service…)

The server we had was very attentive (a definite plus for being empty). She seated us at a large booth, perfect when eating out with children and even showed my daughter how the woodfire oven works. They use walnut wood to bake the individual pies.
My husband started off with the soup of the day (minestrone), which he liked very much. He then ordered the grilled salmon with celery root puree, roasted baby vegetables and mushroom nash. I had the mushroom risotto with Maitake, royal trumpet, and brown clamshell mushrooms. The portions were substantial and pretty tasty. And I liked that we didn’t have to wait long for the meals to arrive.

I would be curious to see what lunch would be like there. The outside patio is great for people watching and with a long wine list and sangria, the spacious bar would be ideal for after work drinks. The husband said he would definitely come back and that’s always a good sign.
