(From left: Henri Myers and Lisa Elliot-Rosas)

Occupation: Founders of COEUR, a new gift and accessories trade show premiering on October 17- 19. (They’re also the brainchild behind eM Productions, a full-service fashion, sales, press and production company.)

Address: The Cooper Building, 860 S Los Angeles Street, 11th floor; coeurshow.com

Why we like them: Lisa and Henri have set their mind on amping up our LA Market week and there’s no question that we need it! The two have spent months selecting the right mix of accessory designers with such favorites as Gabriela Artigas, Heidi Merrick, and Dream Collective all on board. The strict focus is on brands that have proven themselves and have a strong signature style with the support of such retails havens as Opening Ceremony and Satine. The endeavor is surely bound to be exciting! (Find out about this duo’s favorite East Side/WeHo spots after the jump). Read More

The brainchild of Richard Wainwright (New/Found) and Joey Grana (Scout), A Current Affair Brings together some of the best vintage dealers around, including Siren Vintage, Marie Monsod, Tavin, and Mercy Vintage. You’ll find your designer staples such as Chanel, Lanvin, and Hermes, but the selection is not limited to those pieces. Here we introduce three vendors who are making their premiere this time around. Mohawk Bend (2141 West Sunset Boulevard) has been a destination I’ve been longing to visit ever since they opened last month. It seems to me that the current restaurant/bar focus is shifting from wine bars to beer establishments offering an extensive selection of unusual and international brews. While I’m not that beer-savvy, I’m enjoying this new trend as a great alternative to wine and cheese. (Upgraded bar food and the ambiance after the jump). Read More

(Our menu, delicious from beginning to end)

After hearing so much about this eatery for quite some time, I finally headed over to Bottega Louie (700 South Grand Avenue, LA, CA 90017) on Labor Day with a friend for dinner. We went at 7pm and I was a bit nervous about getting a table since Louie does not take reservations, but we obviously had gotten there before the rush and were seated practically immediately. The extremely high ceilings, wide open space with view into the kitchens (there is the pizza section, and the regular kitchen), and the simple approach to decor really appealed to me, and I was curious how the food was going to hold up. It’s Fashion’s Night Out and the shopping/party options are limitless. The Art Walk in Downtown is also happening so sticking to that neighborhood is a safe choice for a fun-filled evening. Stop by Re/Fashion to support the fight against human trafficking. One of our favorite boutiques on the Eastside, E.P.I.C., is having an unofficial party where you can score a limited edition tee by local artists. Moving West, head to Gogosha on West 3rd Street to preview Salt.Optic’s fall 2011 collection (and get a discount on any pre-order of that collection). And finally three great options for Westsiders: In Residence is hosting a Market Tee trunk show and has a special sale going on, Abbot Kinney Guild is showcasing American designers (including the awesome Annie Costello Brown), and across the street you can enjoy fresh squeezed juices at Liseanne Frankfurt while checking out her newest jewelry pieces. (Justin, left, with Kagan)

Occupation: Architects, craftsmen

Address: 6019 Echo Street, Los Angeles, CA 90042; knowhowshopla.com

Why we like them: There are actually three architects that comprise the Knowhow Shop, a co-op that offers diverse wood design/build classes as well as the option to rent space so you can do-it-yourself. Justin Rice, Kagan Taylor and Joshua Howell (Joshua moved to Seattle and wasn’t available for our portrait) are former UCLA grads who are beautifying their Highland Park neighborhood with their innovative designs. They are part of the NELA open gallery night, and have taken the initiative to create big wooden planters all over local sidewalks. Currently, they’re putting their stamp on the Eagle Rock restaurant The Oinkster. Check out images of their designs here. (The duo’s favorites after the jump.) Read More

(Zachary’s Smile will be open)

If you haven’t heard yet, the Sunset Junction Street Fair is a definite “no go” this weekend. The city denied their permits. If you want to check out the musical acts, some of them will be playing around the neighborhood, in back of stores and empty parking lots. One blessing out of all this drama is that the stores will open this weekend, including the ones slated to close up soon to make way for a new apartment complex. That means serious sales for you at ((Zachary’s Smile, Kelly Green, Bebop Design).
