Real Estates – Modern Meets Spanish on La Jolla

by tasha

I have to say, I really like this house. I can imagine my mom telling me it’s “too modern” for her taste, but I really like the juxtaposition of the updated modern interior in a 1927-built Spanish home. Located at 118 North La Jolla Avenue, just south of Beverly, the three bedroom, 2.5 bath is 2,000 square feet on a 6,550 square-foot lot with a salt water pool and spa. Big plus in my book—I like the kitchen and the bathrooms (wonderfully tiled), which is unusual. This is definitely a dream home, however, with a hefty price and hefty price-per-square-foot… (More images and the price after the jump.)

(Living room with high ceilings, fan-like window detailing and pristine hardwood floors.)

(I can imagine the husband not being a fan of this wallpaper; I don’t love the print, but like the idea of wallpaper in a dining room or other limited space.)

(Simple, spacious white kitchen with black appliances.)

(The kitchen leads to a breakfast room.)

(Love this light-filled high-ceilinged breakfast room.)

(A second living area, a bit too much red for me.)

As much as I like this house, the asking—$1,495,000—and price per square foot—$748—made me gulp. That being said, it is in a great location and a well-done restoration. Ah, well, it’s fun to look…

We’re not done with the images just yet! You have to check another bedroom, plus bathrooms and pool on the next page!
