The other weekend, the husband and I made our way to the Pasadena Museum of California Design (PMCA) for its “California Design Biennial: Action/Reaction” exhibit, the fashion portion of which is stunningly curated by style arbiter-writer-extraordinaire Rose Apodaca. The outstanding roster of participants—from textile master Tanya Aquiñiga to Annie Costello Brown’s textural jewelry to Gregory Parkinson’s inventive and gorgeous prints, and more—and lovely rooftop party made for a perfect summer soiree… (The exhibit and designers after the jump.)

(Above and below: Michael Schmidt has designed for performers known for their outrageous and glam costumes, such as Cher, Madonna, Tina Turner, and Grace Jones.)
(Michel Berandi has garnered much attention for his exquisitely crafted pieces—futuristic and a bit rock-and-roll, while incorporating natural elements.)
(Calleen Cordero‘s handcrafted accessories incorporate gems, studs and other hardware.)

(Gregory Parkinson, known for his fabulous prints, is a 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist!)
(You know our love for Tanya Aquiñiga, whose rope necklaces and bracelets and felt chairs are on display.)
Be sure to catch this exhibit, which runs through October 31! In addition to fashion, there’s also curated sections for Transportation Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, and Architecture. More of the exhibit on next page, including George Esquivel, Annie Costello Brown, Koi Suwannagate, and Gr. Dano…
