This past Mother’s Day I wanted to get my mom something chic and functional for her busy world—navigating DC’s urban landscape and demanding professional life. So, I turned to Quel Objet, where I can count on beautifully-crafted offerings from France—brightly-striped espadrilles to luxe soaps, bags ready for the beach to sweetly-wrapped chocolates. The prices are impressively reasonable as well; the double-handled French Market Basket I envisioned my mom toting to Trader Joe’s (shown top left) was only $38, and she says it’s parfait! (More gifty items after the jump.)
(First image clockwise from top left: French Market Basket with Double Handles, $38; Terra Cotta Razzeteurs, $70; White Sussex Rooster, $72; La Montagne Umbrella, $96)
(Clockwise from top left: Jean Rouget Red Box Notecards, $32.50; Lothantique Pure Vegetable Bar Soap, $8; Peche à Pied Fisherman Tablecloth, $100; Cabana Blue Beach Bag, $58)
(Clockwise from top left: Sweet and Spicy: Honey and Mustard, $46; Pouilly-Fumé Wine Label Tea Towel, $18; French Truffle Chocolates in wicker basket, $20 (sold out, but so adorable had to include; Streetwise Provence Map, $8.95)
Just perusing the site transports me to the French countryside, a mental getaway that I hope to make a reality in the not too distant future, and I will definitely need those espadrille high-tops when the time comes!
