My enthusiasm is mounting over Blanco’s Tacos opening at West 3rd and Sweetzer in the strip mall—the latest news is late-night hours, as indicated by the neon sign, till midnight Sun-Thu, till 1am Fri-Sat. This could just work, I tell ya’. And just down the way at the former Surya space at 8048 West 3rd Street, we received word from owner Daniel Saffron that the new restaurant will not be called The Burger Factory as Squid Ink had initially reported, but Burger Kitchen, its new bright green sign proof of the burgers to come. (The new sign after the jump.)

L.A. is a burger town, so Burger Kitchen needs to bring it to stand out, especially since they’re so close to what might be the city’s best burger: Comme Ca.
Burger Kitchen is nearly a mile and a half away from Comme Ca, with the most blasé gourmet burgers in town, which also happens to be across from one of the most inedible “Kobe” burgers in town (Taste, aka, Ta$te, aka, Waste). 1.5 miles can absorb a dozen pho shops or 4 mid-high end restaurants (LQ to Angelini). Proximity won’t do them in, the product will.
Given it’s in walking distance from me, I don’t have to have it be the best burger in town, but good and not overly priced.
The Burger Kitchen will be`a new experience in creative burgers. We will be opening early April, around Friday 5. (depending on final city and county permits)
