It was back in February when we mentioned the opening of Lomography located on 7998 Santa Monica Boulevard. Stocked with an assortment of lomographic cameras, the gallery/shop is like a candy store for analogue-enthusiasts. Starting in April, the store is launching a new series of inexpensive workshops. I recently stopped by to check out the massive LomoMural comprised of 17,000 photos (pictured above). Read more about the new workshops, after the jump.
From the Lomo LC-A, Diana+ , Diana mini, Fisheye cameras and everything in between, the shop offers a camera perfect for you. You can even shoot polariods. I had no idea that these tiny plastic cameras can do so much. It was also great being able to see examples of the products, plastered on the wall and created by Lomography fans.
The workshops are held upstairs in a very laid-back environment and usually ends with a neighborhood field trip. A new series of classes will focus on light leaks next month, starting with the introduction to the Lomo LC-A on April 17, 1pm-3pm. Classes are only $10 and you can borrow a camera. If you already have one, the workshop is free. On April 25, they are celebrating World Pinhole Day by offering a pinhole workshop. And on May 8, the shop is planning a field trip to Santa Monica pier to shoot the sunset ($25 includes transportation and loaner camera). Don’t freak out. These cameras use film. What a concept!
